Medical assessment
Review of health history, weight trajectory, relevant symptoms, previous treatment and risk factors.
Body / Medical weight management
A medically responsible programme for adult women who want to understand their options, health risks and the monitoring required.
The approach
Effective medical weight management starts with a history and examination, not a social-media trend. Dr Luhard considers your weight history, previous approaches, symptoms, relevant medical conditions, medication, pregnancy plans, family history and appropriate baseline investigations.
If medication is considered, the consultation covers expected benefits, common and serious risks, contraindications, alternatives, access, monitoring and what happens if treatment is stopped.
What we can discuss
Review of health history, weight trajectory, relevant symptoms, previous treatment and risk factors.
A plan may include medical treatment, nutrition or activity support, sleep and behavioural factors, or referral when needed.
Follow-up is used to review response, tolerability, adherence, measurements and whether the plan remains appropriate.
The conversation includes maintenance, treatment duration and the possibility of weight regain rather than selling a temporary finish line.
Eligibility and product choice require an individual medical consultation. Prescription-only treatment is never supplied through the website or WhatsApp.
FemaleHealth's medical weight-management consultations are provided by Dr Luhard at Medify in Waterkloof. The programme is designed for adults and is not a substitute for urgent or specialist care.
Progress may include improvements in risk markers, symptoms, function, confidence with a plan and sustainable habits. A lower number on a scale does not justify unsafe prescribing or inadequate nutrition.
Questions
You may ask about any treatment, but a prescription is issued only if Dr Luhard decides it is clinically appropriate after consultation.
Relevant tests depend on your history, symptoms, examination and proposed treatment. You will be told what is needed and why.
Some medicines are not appropriate. Disclose pregnancy, breastfeeding and pregnancy plans before any prescription is considered.
